Our lovely Lizzie, second name Bennet if you must know, quilted reversible waistcoat comes in our two iconic prints for the Spring Summer season. Our Leafy colour-way of the Vauxhall Toile showcases all of the frivolity of the Regency period, and on the reverse is the County Seats print, created from illustrations from a historic book called ‘County Seats of Noblemen and Gentlemen in Great Britain & Ireland.’
It is made from 100% Quilted Cotton with Leafy Green velvet trim and ties. Fully lined and reversible with a structured ruffle at the hem. Embroidered lovers eye features on the back.
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife” could be the most famous line ever written in English Literature and it’s legacy has inspired this collection. Our prints reflect a rose-tinted frolic through the English Countryside inspired by Regency high society’s outdoor pursuits of the day, imbued with a celebration of nature in line with our renewed appreciation of the natural world. Explore the scandal and pleasure of Vauxhall Gardens, take a leisurely stroll through the Maze Gardens, maybe even admire some of the County Seats of a certain dashing eligible bachelor. Shapes are formed from our own interpretation of Gentleman’s riding coats, tea-dresses worn with Spencer Jackets for picnics at Box Hill and what we like to think of as a female dandy of the time with “superb self-confidence.”
