I can finally reveal a very special commission that I worked on earlier this year. Five lovely local Stockport lads - more commonly known as Blossoms - commissioned Olivia Annabelle to design some shirts for their new album.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to design - this was towards the end of lockdown and I was feeling like I needed a new project!
The brief was perfect, a mix of 1970s and New Romantic vibes, and I’m so glad that this was my first ever dip into menswear! I knew that for this special task I needed the best seamstress and luckily Eliza May Atelier, ran by my friend Miriam, was up for the challenge! Miriam is meticulous when it comes to detail and she managed to get all 5 blouses done for our tight schedule!
The shirts are inspired by 1970s dress shirts and feature pussy bow ties (extra long so they can be tied multiple ways), flounced frilly cuffs and are made from 100% sustainable bamboo silk.
Thank you so much Blossoms for entrusting myself and Miriam with this amazing project! Check out their amazing new single ‘Care For’ it is so good!
Every thing Olivia creates is wonder. The difference between Olivia Annabelle and elsewhere is in (a) a true feeling of historical meaning (b) honestly her fit is perfection. Made to fit real bodies in a way that it feels like it was made-to-order your specific measurements even though you just bought a set size (c) exquisite fabric choices (or prints). I honestly cannot recommend enough, thank you!
As usual the quality is amazing and the design is beautiful. I have a few OA dresses and I am always so happy whenever I wear them, they are always so special and this is no exception.
