Step into the beautiful world of the Pre-Raphaelites with my enchanting cotton velvet Genevieve dress, a creation that pays homage to the romanticism and beauty of this iconic art movement. This dress is a captivating fusion of medieval-inspired design elements and the artistic allure of the Pre-Raphaelites, featuring a printed bodice, velvet panels, and medieval sleeve detailing.
The printed bodice of this dress is a story in itself, adorned with hand-drawn motifs that evoke the enchanting landscapes and dreamy imagery often found in Pre-Raphaelite paintings featuring swirling smokey clouds, a castle frozen in time, and an ever observant Dragon.
Velvet panels add a touch of luxury and texture to the dress, enhancing its opulent appeal. The rich, sumptuous fabric drapes elegantly, creating a silhouette that is both regal and romantic.
The medieval sleeve detailing adds a touch of historical charm to the dress, with billowing sleeves that evoke the romance and drama of medieval attire.
The empire waistline gathers into a midi skirt, creating a flattering silhouette that harks back to the graceful lines of Pre-Raphaelite muses. This silhouette accentuates the figure while allowing for ease of movement, making it perfect for both formal occasions and romantic strolls through meadows and gardens.
Crafted from luxurious cotton velvet, the fabric is a tribute to the tactile beauty celebrated by the Pre-Raphaelites. The deep, jewel-toned hues of the velvet complement the printed bodice, adding depth and dimension to the overall design.
This piece is handcrafted locally in Cheshire by an exceptionally skilled seamstress. It is made from 100% Cotton Velvet and Drill, and has a 100% Bamboo Silk Lining. It features an invisible zip opening at the centre back of the dress. As with all my Made-to-Order pieces you can customise the fit of this dress if my measurements do not work for you.

Lead times for Made-To-Order pieces is 4 weeks for your dress to be drafted into a pattern, cut and sewn in Cheshire.

OA Care Guide
As printed onto the care labels stitched into OA garments, I strongly recommend to dry clean your beautiful new additions. As these pieces are all handmade with love by an independent seamstress, in an ethical and sustainable way they are not processed with harmful chemicals and washed, and then rewashed like fast fashion brands.
If your piece has an alternative fabric - like a bright white collar on a purple dress then I would definitely advise to dry clean or spot clean to avoid colours bleeding into the collar. If a garment absolutely has to be washed then add 1 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle or one-half cup salt to the wash to help hold in colors. Use color-catcher sheets, which trap extraneous dyes during the wash cycle to prevent bleeding. Digital printed garments' colour does not usually run, however, the lining of the garment may run. Please do not scrub your pieces as this can cause damage to the surface.
When possible it is always kinder to steam garments rather than ironing them. Steaming removes creases by relaxing the fibres of the fabric. Ironing, on the other hand, uses the heat of the metal base and weight to compress the fibres. The compression of fibres over time can cause irreversible damage and shorten the life of the garment.
Care Advice for Corduroy and Needlecord Fabrics
I recommend to spot clean Corduroy when and as needed, I strongly recommend you to dry clean OA garments, but if a full wash is required here is some care advice;
If possible, a gentle hand wash would be best on a very low temperature. Do not scrub the fabric as this will destroy the pile. On high heat corduroy tends to shrink and the dye can run. I would advise where possible to only dry clean.
To revive the ‘pile’ (the textured fluffiness of the corduroy) I would recommend steaming the corduroy. This maintains the fluffiness of the corduroy. DO NOT iron corduroy on either side of the fabric – this flattens the texture and can damage it. The needlecord I have chosen works best with steaming and is the perfect weight to prevent too many creases.
